A Place to Stand

When I surf the internet today I learned that my brother-in-law defended his faith in biblical view. I'm really happy for his stand.I was reminded about the life of prophet Amos who used the metaphor of a stream to illustrate the transforming power of righteousness.Israel's unbelief is the picture of today's scenario of those people who choose their on way to justify their injustices done,somebody needs to be brave and bold to stand so that justice and truth prevail.
God's people were stuck in the stagnant pond of injustice toward others when what they needed was a life marked by "righteousness like a mighty stream".Likewise, God desires for us to allow justice run down like water from our lives. Let start doing our share now, be part of God's mighty stream of His righteousness until Christ returns.
Justice is the clarion call for Christians-- we cannot step aside from what God said instead follow on the path He's led.
Let's always remember that righteousness follows when truth springs into action.

Paskong Pinoy

Christmas is always extraordinary here in the Philippines but according to my brother-in-law in Seattle Christmas there is not a big deal. "Paskong Pinoy, the Filipino unique way of marking Advent, is associated with culture and religiosity such as caroling, the Belen, Simbang Gabi, pastores and panunuluyan, family reunions and Pinoy delicacies such as bibingka, puto, biko and a lot more.
When we say Christmas season, it is usually means lots of partying, wining and dining.Although the season is wonderful, one of its unfortunate tradition has always been associated with hgh -calorie and high-cholesterol foods - from appetizers to desserts.The season also makes people skip their exercises, so, the result is predictable:weight gain! So watch out!
But for me as a true believer of Jesus Christmas I never celebrate December 25 as His birthday coz there was'nt an exact date and month when Jesus actually born. I'm thankful enough everyday that He was born to save mankind and myself. His life was the special gift that is beyond compare.

Loboc Children's Choir at 'Sing for Me'

Loboc is a town located at Bohol Philippines where this famous Children's Choir originated.
It is said that children are the hope of our nation. Yet, almost everyday, we read, hear or see in the television news stories about children being abused, exploited, neglected or abandoned. Something needs to be done to help these unfortunate children, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) continues to do its part by implementing programs ang projects to improve the lives of these children.The DSWD conceptualized a special project dubbed as Sing for Me , A Call for Peace and Unity wherein the pride of Bohol 'The Loboc Children's Choir will be there as one of their guests.Seeing the Loboc Children's Choir in a project like this even makes me prouder as Boholano.

Marriage Is God's Idea

I'm delighted to write about marriage because my younger sister is soon to tie the knot.I knew that trying to understand God's will is difficult but biblical guidance is a lifesaver.

You may feel reluctant to turn to the story of Isaac and Rebekah for guidance, but it contains priciples that can really direct the Christian. Consequently, these principles take a lot of stress and worry out of wondering if one is on the right track. Genesis 24 presents it: 1. God clear the way ahead. 2. Entrust the choosing to God. 3. Wait until you see the harmonization principle. 4. You will recognize that God has chosen. 5. Handle signs carefully-watch for God's guidance to be confirmed. 6. Others will witness and follow the right things in life too.

Erap Pardoned

After 1 and half month of Erap's guilty verdict from plunder case he is now pardon by President Gloria Arroyo. I guess the entire nation was saddened of this news. It seemed that justice of this country is denied for those who are influencial and powerful.

Do you think that a 70-year old ex-president can do good for our government? Before he is reluctant to accept pardon from PGMA for he insisted that his conscience is clean.He is also claiming to serve our Country the best he can for the rest of his life.

I'm saddened with the very early proclamation of pardon to Erap Estrada for it showed that justice is useless to those who are rich and powerful.How about those who are poor and not influencial? Are they sailing the same canoe?

Pork Dinuguan

Ingredients:

1 k. of pork belly, cut into 1″ x 2″ pieces
350 g. of pork liver
4 c. of pig’s blood
3 chili peppers (siling haba)
1 head of garlic, crushed and minced
1 thumb-sized piece of ginger, minced
3 onions, halved and sliced thinly
1 pouch of sinigang mix good for 1 liter of broth
1 bay leaf
salt
pepper (optional)
1 tbsp. of cooking oil

Directions:
1. Refrigerate the pig’s blood until needed.

2. Heat a heavy casserole. Pour in the cooking oil. When the oil starts to smoke, add the garlic and ginger. Saute until fragrant. Add the pork pieces and cook over high heat until the edges of the pork start to brown. Add the onions, chili peppers, bay leaf and sinigang mix and continue cooking until the onions are transparent. Season with salt and pepper, if using. Pour in just enough water to cover. Bring to a boil, lower the heat, cover and simmer for 30-45 minutes or until the pork is very tender. Add more water, a little at a time, if the liquid dries up before the pork is cooked.

3. Meanwhile, minced the liver. Season with a little salt.

4. When the pork is tender and most of the liquid has evaporated, take the pig’s blood out of the refrigerator. Transfer to a clean bowl. With you hands, mash solid masses to a pulp. Pour the mashed blood and the liquid into the casserole. Bring to a boil. Cook over medium heat, stirring, for about 5 minutes. Add the minced liver and cook for another minute or two. Add more salt if necessary.

4. Serve the dinuguan hot with puto (sweet rice cakes) or steamed rice.

The Children

I want to share to you my experiences in dealing with children for seven years that I'm handling grade one and with my three cute kids.I make this poem for those children lovers around the world.

God blessed them and gave them to us
Their lives to shape and mold
To share with us in youthfulness;
To comfort us when old.

They were only lent to us
To be guided on their way;
To be taught to work;
To share in our play.

We cannot expect a miracle,
To teach them when they have grown
If we do not care enough to teach them,
While they are still at home.

If they know that they are loved
And not just in the way;
If they learn the golden rule
By watching us each day.

And if we have done our best
With the children that to us He lent
Our tears will hold no touch of guilt,
When back to Him they are sent.

Children are God's gift to us and we should love them as they are.God has a great purpose in dealing with children. Thank you for reading this blog.

The Value of Discipline

We now live in a very complex society. Teen pregnancies, violence, suicides are increasing. our society has lost touch with what the children need to mold character and competence.
Today's youth need something.And what is it? They constantly need loving training that corrects the heart and mind. Different persons need different kinds of discipline. When motivated by love, discipline often can be conveyed by reasoning.
Teaching children a sense of order and respect is aone great challenge for parents today. Boundaries must be set around personal properties and preferences to imply that it is wrong to love violence or harm one another.

Character Education Seminar

DepEd (Department of Education) holds Character Education Seminar for 2 Saturdays.
DepEd officials see the need of refreshing techniques and strategies in teaching values education to our school children.It is obvious that youngsters nowadays are not keen with the importance of values. They have less respect to parents and elders in the community. Some were indulge in vices thus they really need cares and guidance.
The Deped is trying its best to solve this problem for learning will not take place with undisciplined children to teach with. Even in my case, I'm handling grade class with 43 pupils of different personalities, it's really difficult.
The problem of low moral and lack of discipline affect so much the performance and achievement of children. That's why Philippines ranks at the bottom in leteracy rate percentage.
This delimma needs a concerted efforts of parents, community and the government agencies to have a better result of learning.
